Our movement of Six Months or Less was initiated in 2020 during the last presidential election year.
Do you remember how 2020 started? Within the first two months, the entire world was filled with fear and anxiety due to the outbreak of Covid 19. Our churches were forced to close, we were restricted from celebrating the most holy day of the year, Easter Sunday, 2020. We had “stay at home” orders, were required to wear masks, and were asked to keep six feet away from others. When the world seemed like it couldn’t get crazier, summer riots broke out in all major cities. Our news outlets and journalists who are expected to maintain objectivity and present facts whether they agree or not, seemed to be working together on a mission of hate and division. Most of the headlines in 2020 were designed to instill fear into every living person.
SMOL’s mission is to remove that fear and anxiety by trusting in God’s divine plan.
In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” The best way to live your life is to live as if you have Six Months or Less to live and trusting in the Word of God.
Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what IS the WILL of GOD, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Living SMOL (like you have Six Months or Less to Live) is a courageous and heroic movement. It’s a challenging and exciting way of life. The three-legged stool that we live from is based on Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. We know (and accept) that there will be suffering and sacrifices during our minimal time on earth. Like a pro athlete, we are training for the big event, when we transition from this life to eternal life. That date is on our calendar, but we don’t know when. Until then, we will be “strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. (We will) put on the whole armor of God, that (we) you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6: 10-12.
As we enter another toxic political year, let’s avoid the allure of (hourly) daily news. Let’s fill our heart, soul and mind with the good news. Let’s spread the good news. Let’s live SMOL.
